Earthquakes, mudslides, extreme weather. The Palisades and Eaton Canyon fires were the most recent reminder. Most people know they should prepare. Few finish the job.
I'm Rebecca Hughes — I've been active with LAFD's CERT program for more than a decade, including as a call-out member and class organizer. I work with households across Southern California to get them ready for emergencies.
The goal is simple: know what to do, have the gear to do it, and be able to act when it counts.
What You’ll Gain
- An emergency plan built around your home, your household, and your risks
- The right gear, thoughtfully selected and organized where you'll actually reach for it
- Hands-on guidance so everyone in your household knows what to do when it matters
- A preparedness system that stays organized, current, and ready when you need it

The Approach
Preparedness is about fearing less because you've prepped more.
Being prepared creates a sense of safety and confidence. You can’t predict the future, but you can give yourself the knowledge and resources to respond to the unexpected.
We believe emergency readiness creates peace of mind—the confidence that you’ve done everything in your control to stay safe, leaving you free to focus on what matters now.
About
About Rebecca
After my son’s school burned in the 2025 Palisades fire, I decided to share what I know with the city I love. I founded Emergency Prep Concierge so my community is ready when the ground starts moving or the fires start spreading.
I’m the friend who’s already checked the safety exits before anyone else has ordered drinks. I believe emergency readiness creates the peace of mind that allows for a more enjoyable life.
For the past decade, I’ve been deeply involved in LAFD’s CERT program. I’ve taken CERT classes, become a call-out member, and helped organize classes for LAFD. I’ve also served on the Venice Resiliency Committee and continued building my knowledge through FEMA’s emergency preparedness and response coursework.
Somewhere along the way, preparedness became the thing friends text me about at 2 a.m. — usually involving go-bags.
I live in Venice Beach with my two teenage sons, and I’m a diabolical force of nature on the dance floor.
